Maverik Associate Category Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

What You’ll do as an Associate Category Manager

  • P&L accountability for cigarettes, tobacco and other categories and initiatives as assigned

  • Performs and provides analysis to predict trends, product positioning, product selection, pricing, and logistics of product distribution according to strategic plan provided by Category Manager(s)

  • Supports Category Manager(s) with vendor negotiations, contracts, Price Book, and costing

  • Serves as project lead for price and promotion efficiencies across departments

  • Collaborates with Category Manager(s) to ensure principles and guidelines for work in our stores is consistent and followed

  • Works with the Customer Marketing Manager to assure 1:1 offers and coupon deals are set up strategically for each category

  • Works closely with Operations and other departments in the company in executing category and/or sub-category strategies and tactics; primarily as a liaison with the Merchandising team and Operational Efficiency Program Managers to deliver superior store execution

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

You’ll Be a Great Fit if you Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business or related field preferred

  • 1-2 years product marketing or related experience preferred

  • Entry Level experience and understanding of category management and store level merchandising processes and systems

  • Operational experience in retail a significant plus

  • A track record of building relationships & influencing others to buy into vision or strategy

  • Experience in exercising initiative and sound judgement in decision making

  • A record of anticipating customer needs & giving high priority to customer satisfaction & service

  • A track record of focusing on results and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them
