Edwards Lifesciences Director, Finance (Manufacturing Plant Controller) in Salt Lake City, Utah

Edwards Lifesciences is hiring for a Director of Finance (Manufacturing Plant Controller). As the Director of Finance, you will direct a team of cost and financial accounting professionals, and have overall accountability for finance activities for Edwards Lifesciences’ Draper, UT manufacturing plant. You will be responsible to ensure proper accounting, financial control and compliance is adhered to in Draper; provide decision support to operational leadership; evaluate and convey overall site risk and opportunity to site leadership; oversee and review operational VOP budgets for business unit activities in Draper; support operational strategies and key projects; support operational leaders in establishing and hitting expense, Cap Ex and operational targets; act as a trusted partner to the manufacturing, quality and supply chain leaders; manage Draper Finance team’s performance, growth and development; oversee compliance to SOX and proper accounting of expenses.

Responsibilities:

  • Set finance strategy around efforts to optimize business processes by assessing business needs and developing, proposing and implementing solution options.

  • Serve as core finance partner to senior leaders in Business Units, Functional Groups, Regions and IT.

  • Plan and direct multiple strategic project portfolio activities including, prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects.

  • Lead in identifying risk, developing complex mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc., in collaboration with project managers

  • Develop financial forecasts, annual AOP and long term strategic financial plans. Provide financial support to various business units located at the plant. Ensure proper internal/SOX controls are documented and in place.

  • Ensure the Finance Department has the proper tools to be successful.

  • Recommend and implement changes to methods through several department managers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant finance experience, including hands-on experience in cost accounting and manufacturing financial planning.

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Controller within a manufacturing plant.

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience managing a team with direct reports. Demonstrated ability to direct teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations.

  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, database tools (e.g., QlikView), financial systems, and ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CMA

  • Experience with automation, robotics, and BI tools (Tableau preferred)

  • Expert understanding of financial procedures while looking beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems

  • Ability to develop and integrate metrics into projects and the operation that clearly demonstrate the value of finance to the business

  • Proven successful project management and leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

  • Strict attention to detail

  • Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environment

  • Ability to conduct business and technical briefings for senior and top management and external representatives

  • Ability to regularly interact with executives and/or major customers; interactions frequently involve skills, such as negotiating with customers or management, or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization

  • Ability to strongly commit to quality client service

  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to large cross-functional teams to successfully implement global enterprise systems and related solutions

  • Ability to support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the organization
