Job Title: Molecular Biology Segment Lead

Carlsbad, CA, USA (however the precise location within the United States is flexible for the right candidate)

Biosciences Division (BID) - Molecular Biology (MolBio) Business Unit; Molecular Diagnostics (MDx) Segment

How will you make an impact?

By partnering with field based Business Development Managers (BDM's) - you will drive and own the business results for commercial use (OEM) opportunities and deals mapping to the MDx segment of the MolBio Business Unit within Thermo Fisher Scientific's BID. You will also be responsible for licensing relevant intellectual property such as competent cells to partners.

What will you do?

Manage and grow the MDx MolBio business by:

  • Developing, pressure testing (with key stakeholders) and deploying multi-year OEM and Licensing strategies.

  • Accurately forecasting OEM and Licensing revenues on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Enabling field based BDMs to identify, nurture, evolve, and close new business with commercial use customers.

  • Lead negotiations, resulting in multi-year supply and license agreements.

  • Generate demand amongst commercial customers for Molecular Biology products.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in the chemical or life sciences required

  • Five plus (5+) years of relevant business development experience, including identification & validation of strategic out licensing and product supply opportunities in the life sciences field. Experience in developing and advancing new MolBio market opportunities preferred.

  • Proven track record of relevant completed business development transactions (please submit a deal sheet with application).

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse cultures, especially customers based in Asia, is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of the fundamental concepts of IP, patents, and contract law.

  • Advanced knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and markets and familiarity with Thermo Fisher Scientific's life sciences products.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 30% of the time.
