VMware Senior Manager, Records and Information Management in Salt Lake City, Utah

An experienced leader in records and information management space, who will be responsible for implementation of programs, policies, and strategies on how to organize, manage, and retain important corporate records and other corporate information globally. This individual will report to the Director of M&A Finance & Integration within the Chief Accounting Organization.


  • Develop records and information management policies, standards, and procedures consistent with industry best practices

  • Champion compliance with records and information management policies and procedures across the Company

  • Refine as needed lifecycle standards and technology to access and protect the Company’s information assets in accordance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements

  • Serve as the functional owner or administrator of electronic content management systems as they relate to information management and lifecycle processes and implement legally defensible records disposition processes for the Company

  • Work closely with Information Technology team to build records management functionality into the enterprise architecture and processes to ensure information systems incorporate records management functionality appropriate to the records/information assets supported

  • Develop and execute a destruction authorization policy and workflow to support the routine disposition of expired records, transitory information and low value content

  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to support Records and Information Management of the Company

  • Communicate with departments and senior management regarding current and projected operational requirements, issues and legislative and regulatory matters associated with records management and retention

  • Assist with budgeting, departmental planning and other administrative activities

  • Maintain strong relationships with business representatives and work with them on strategies, projects, initiatives, problems, and opportunities to improve their records and content management practices

  • Advise on the cost effective inventory management of physical records storage, records imaging operations and associated customer services

  • Role is principally remote with some travel


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years combined experience in records and information management disciplines

  • Experience running a records and information management program, including significant involvement in program implementation

  • 5+ years of project management and supervisory experience in a large corporate environment

  • Relevant Records Information Management related certifications (e.g., CIP, CRM, etc.) and expert level knowledge and experience in GDPR and other State and National data protection regulations

  • Track record of influencing and providing consultative guidance to senior management around complex records and information management issues

  • Strong project management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong partnering, diplomacy, collaboration, communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism

  • Demonstrated orientation to flexibility and adaptability to changing business conditions and needs

  • Excels at conceptualization, critical thought process, creativity and development of frameworks

  • ARMA certification
