Assistant Show Room Manager

In the role of the Assistant Show Room Manager, this position will support the Retail Performance and Store Operations Manager with store scheduling, best practices, and expense management to support sales and maximize profitability effectively and efficiently. You will work hand in hand with the manager to enhance the customer experience, thereby improving sales performance and maximizing bottom-line profitability.

In this role, you will focus on delivering operational excellence to streamline efficiencies and grow the business. You will champion the Downeast brand at every guest encounter and ensure your stellar team exemplifies brand values, standards and experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Acting as Manager on Duty (MOD) when required
  • Execute and adapt in store merchandising to maximize business opportunities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, secure, and friendly store
  • Manage daily staffing and workflow, and ensure adherence to department quantity and quality standards
  • Meet regularly with individual team members; coach them to meet and exceed their goals
  • Utilize reporting and direct observation to keep associates abreast of their performance towards those goals
  • Provide performance analysis to contribute action plan strategies to improve overall performance
  • Be a resource for policy, procedure, and human resources questions/issues
  • Participate in monthly quality monitoring; collaborate with related Operations depts. on suggested improvements
  • Take on additional projects as necessary
  • Collaborate consistently by:
  • Sharing information and exchanging ideas
  • Researching all ideas thoroughly to validate accuracy and relevance
  • Reaching consensus and precedent prior to communications
  • Create better ways of doing things (new ideas or barriers) that improve the customer experience, or work environment

  • Have fun - Celebrate the successes of each other drive to elevate energy and others
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for improvements to the department and company
  • Must be flexible and adaptable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Certification in Interior Design is a BONUS
  • Strong organizational skills
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, luxury retail experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • "Win together" mentality
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office Product Suite, advanced proficiency preferred
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which could include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple objectives simultaneously
  • Curious and open to adopting new ways of thinking and eager to learn new skills
  • Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support new store openings
  • Execute a variety of operational activities including, but are not limited to, scheduling, inventory management, backroom organization & store maintenance
  • Ability to continually smile, be kind, and be genuinely friendly in an environment where guests are the reason, we are in business
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership attributes; proven ability to develop and motivate employees to meet and exceed performance standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to deliver feedback effectively and express thoughts concisely
  • Ability to work with others in a fast-paced, team setting and to interact effectively with all levels of management across all departments
