Position Overview

The business development manager for Cyber Security in the Western US is responsible for the growth and profitability of the power generation business with a primary focus on Cyber Security. The selected individual will be held accountable for the oversight, identification, qualification, and capture of all business development opportunities and will be responsible for the generation of qualified pipeline growth necessary to meet or exceed the business area’s forecast and plan. In addition, this role will plan and recommend business development and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration consistent with business unit financial objectives and to drive tactical and strategic growth in their region.


  • Engage and motivate both the core and extended teams to focus on goals and objectives of the Cyber Security business in power generation industries.

  • Oversee capture strategies and support regional sales and bid teams operationally and strategically to achieve order intake targets.

  • Engage in senior level engagement with customers and partners to support the development of winning campaign strategies that improve the quality and depth of our market and competitor intelligence to influence/enhance our win strategies.

  • Assist with selling and delivering services across all Siemens Energy offerings keeping Cyber Security at the core.

  • Own and guide the local Siemens Energy Cyber Security strategy for power generation and connect that strategy across the entire value chain within Siemens Energy.

  • Participate in budget, business, and headcount planning as necessary.

  • Represent Siemens at industry events, trade shows, and conventions.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Working knowledge of the NERC CIP regulation as well as the NIST SP 800-82 framework.

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Management

  • Minimum 10 years of technical experience power generation, other energy industry, or cyber security

  • Minimum five years of business experience in power generation

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

  • Executive level leadership, organizational, negotiation, communication and presentation skills required, including experience with customer and supplier contract negotiations

  • Experience in all aspects of business development including account management, capture and technical proposal development

  • Experience working with channel partners and a strong understanding of a channel-centric GTM approaches

  • Knowledge of market analysis and demonstrated success of targeting new business including ability to develop, document, and execute a plan for achieving awards/growth

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with internal and external decision makers, stakeholders, and other interested parties for presenting and selling opportunities, and gaining approvals for opportunities

  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to present technical/business information in a way a non-technical/business person would understand

  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.

  • Innovative, able to create business value for different stakeholders in complex sales (OT/IT involvement and / or plant vs. HQ)

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 40%

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Knowledge of Siemens Energy specific business processes, including LOA processes, budget processes, and salesforce.com are a plus

  • MBA or experience managing detailed P&L financials a plus

  • Understanding of the capabilities and configuration of industrial cyber security controls and solutions across multiple facets.

  • Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with a wide variety of work styles including craft, engineering, and management at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals
